Connect Google Calendar

What it is

Connecting Google Calendar lets Binary create interview events on your calendar - with a Google Meet link and invites to the interviewers and candidate. It's required for interview scheduling.

How to connect

You're prompted to connect at the moment you need it: when scheduling an interview, if your calendar isn't linked, you'll see "To create events, you need to first connect your Google Calendar" with a Connect button. Click it and complete Google sign-in (grant calendar access). The scheduling form then shows "The calendar invite will be created via {your email}."

Each person connects their own Google Calendar, and the connection is per workspace.

If you connect from Settings → Interviews (the Interview availability row), Binary opens your availability editor automatically once the calendar is linked, so you can set your interview hours in the same flow. See Set your interview availability.

Org-wide connect (Business, admin)

Instead of each person connecting individually, an admin can connect the whole Google Workspace once at Settings → Integrations → Google Calendar ("Schedule interviews seamlessly") → Connect. This uses Google Domain-wide Delegation, so any member on a verified domain can schedule without their own connection.

The Connect company calendar dialog warns "You need to be a Google Workspace super admin to complete this setup" and walks through four steps:

1. Open Google Workspace admin - link to Domain-wide Delegation (admin.google.com).
2. Add Binary as an API client - copy the Client ID.
3. Grant these OAuth scopes - copy the Scopes (calendar read-only + calendar events).
4. Click Verify below - "Google changes may take up to a minute to propagate."

Click Verify. If Google hasn't propagated yet you'll see "Verification failed. It can take up to 5 minutes for Google to propagate changes. Please wait and try again." On success the dialog shows Connected successfully - "All calendars in the domain(s) {domain} are now connected." Disconnecting warns "All calendars connected to your Google Workspace will be disconnected." (toast "Google Calendar disconnected").

Notes & limits

• The Google account you connect must use the same email as your Binary account, otherwise you'll get a mismatch error.
• Interview scheduling requires the Business plan (see Schedule an interview).
• Org-wide connect is admin-only and needs a Google super admin to finish the delegation step; it can cover multiple domains.
• You can disconnect at any time; scheduling will prompt to reconnect.
