What is Binary
A quick orientation to Binary - an ATS for hiring - and its core concepts: workspaces, forms, candidates, stages, and more.
What it is
Binary is an ATS (applicant tracking system) - software for running your hiring. You post forms, collect applications, review candidates, message them, schedule interviews, and track everyone through a pipeline.
Core concepts
- Workspace - your team's hiring space, with its own forms, candidates, members, branding, and plan. You can have more than one and switch between them.
- Form (also called a role) - a position you're hiring for. Each form has a public application form candidates fill in, and a Responses page where you review candidates.
- Candidate (also called a submission or application) - someone who applied to a form.
- Stages - the pipeline columns (New → Shortlisted → Archived, plus your own) that track a candidate's progress.
- Inbox - messaging with candidates (delivered as email).
- Analytics, Referrals, Interviews & feedback - round out the workflow.
- Ask AI - an in-app assistant that answers questions about your candidates, forms, and metrics (see What the AI assistant can do).
Getting around
The home page (Forms, at https://binary.so) lists your forms. The left sidebar has Home, Inbox, Candidates, Analytics, and Referrals; your avatar at the top switches workspaces and opens settings.
Roles & plans
People have a role (Admin, Member, or Referrer) that controls what they can do - see Roles and permissions. Workspaces are on a plan (Free, Starter, or Business); some features are Business-only - see Plans and billing.
