Manage the referral program (admin)
Turn on referrals, choose the referral questions, invite referrers, and track referred candidates.
What it is
Admins set up and run the workspace's referral program - turning it on, deciding what referrers are asked, inviting referrers, and tracking the candidates that come in. Referrals is a Business-plan feature.
Set it up
From the Referrals page (https://binary.so/refer), open the Settings (the gear, top
right) to find the Referral settings dialog:
- Enable Referrals - "Turn on the referral portal so your team can start referring candidates." (Once on, this section disappears.)
- Referral form - "Choose the list of questions asked to the referrer about the candidate." Beyond the required Name and Email, add custom questions (LinkedIn, résumé, "how do you know this candidate?", etc.).
- Referral tracking - "If enabled, referrers will be able to see the current stage of the candidate." (On by default.)
- Who can refer? - Members of this workspace are always allowed. You can also enable a trusted domain so "anyone with the email @{your-domain}" can self-join as a Referrer via the referral link. (Hidden for generic/personal domains like gmail.com.)
- Invite people - add referrers by email ("external-recruiter@gmail.com"). For each, pick a scope - All live jobs (default) or specific forms - so a referrer can only refer into the forms you choose. Invited people get the Referrer role.
- Remove a referrer - from the referrers list ("…they will no longer be able to submit referrals."); you can also change their scope there.
The referral link (https://binary.so/{handle}/refer) is shown in settings - share it; only
allowed people (members, invited referrers, or trusted-domain joiners) can use it.
Track referrals
The Admin summary card (visible to admins once there's at least one referral) shows Referrals and Reviewed counts. Referred candidates appear in the form's pipeline with the source "Referred by {name}" - filter candidates by that source (see Search and filter candidates).
Notes & limits
- Admins only, and the workspace must be on the Business plan.
- Referrers have very limited access - only their own referrals - so inviting someone as a referrer doesn't expose candidates or forms to them. See Add members to a workspace.
