The candidate detail view
Open a candidate to see their answers, files, AI review, comments, interviews, and message thread - and act on them.
What it is
Clicking a candidate on the Responses page opens their detail view - everything about that one candidate in a focused, full-screen layout. You can read their application, review their profile, leave private notes, and take action (change stage, message, schedule an interview).
What it shows
- Name, email (with copy), a labels tag, and a ··· menu with Edit, Move (to another form - see Move a candidate to another form), and Delete. It opens on an Overview tab, with Messages and Interviews tabs alongside.
- Quick stage moves - Archive (shortcut A) and Shortlist (shortcut S) buttons at the bottom, with a dropdown for other stages.
- Comments / notes - private team notes on the candidate; add, edit, and delete your own. Candidates never see these.
- Labels - the colored tags on the candidate; add or remove them here (see Add and manage labels).
- Created date and Source - shown as "{date} · Applied via form" (or Referred by … / Added by admin depending on how they came in).
- Recent activity - a "Recent activity" card listing this candidate's stage moves, newest first, as "Moved to '{stage}' by {name}" with the date. It shows only stage changes (not messages, interviews, or comments). A few are shown at first, with "See more" to expand the rest.
- Possible duplicate - if Binary spots other profiles that look like the same candidate, the Overview shows a "Possible duplicate" card ("We found {N} existing profiles which look like the same candidate") listing each match with its form and stage, so you can open and compare them. (It flags possible duplicates - it doesn't auto-merge.)
- Application answers - every question and the candidate's answer, including uploaded files, video answers, and links. See View and download résumés and files.
- AI Review - the AI's assessment of the candidate, when AI review is enabled on the form.
- Messages - the message thread with the candidate (see Message candidates).
- Interviews - scheduled interviews and feedback (see Schedule an interview and Add interview feedback).
Navigating
Move between candidates without leaving the detail view using the previous / next controls (and arrow keys), and close it to return to the table. A counter shows your position in the current stage. The detail view opens in a streamlined fast mode by default, designed for moving through candidates quickly.
On a wide screen the Overview lays out in two columns: the candidate's comments, details, and answers on the left, and a side panel on the right holding the Recent activity and Possible duplicate cards. On a narrow screen those cards stack on top of the answers instead.
Notes & limits
- Comments are internal - only your team sees them, never the candidate.
- What you can see may be limited by field protection (some columns can be restricted to specific people - see Protect a column).
- Anyone with access to the form can open candidates and add comments, labels, and stage changes.
